Mr. Tommy Minton, age 69, of Boomer, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at his home. He was born in Wilkes County to William Dallas Minton and Edith Matilda Faw Minton Barlow. He was a US Army Veteran, a Mason and was employed with the Department of Agriculture as a federal inspector. Mr. Minton was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Jack Barlow.

Surviving are his wife, Cassie Minton of the home; two daughters, Shannon Absher and husband Greg of North Wilkesboro, Lori Jackson and husband Brent of Granite Falls; two sons, Joe Kilby and wife Glenda of Millers Creek, Michael Kilby and wife Diane of Hudson; two brothers, Sam Minton and wife Beverly of Wilkesboro, Randy Barlow and wife Avis of Purlear; one sister, June Jarvis of Purlear; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held 1:00 o'clock Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Leon Church officiating. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
