Born in Smithsburg, he was the son of David and Elizabeth (Warner) Bowman.
He had been a farmer all his life working about 40 years on the Nicodemus farm at Edgemont. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Smithsburg.
Surviving are sons, Richard, Hagerstown, and Wilbur, Waynesboro, daughters, Mrs. Mary Miller and Mrs. Anna Bowman, both of Smithsburg, Mrs. Orpha Shilling and Mrs. Naomi Bowman, both of Hagerstown; brothers, Mahlon and E Cleag, both of Smithsburg; 33 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Services Monday at 2:30 pm at the Pleasant Valley Church with Elder David Fleagle officiating. Interment in cemetery adjoining. Arrangements handled by Minnich Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
