Eva Davis Medlin, 95, passed away November 12, 2013 following a brief illness.

Eva Davis Medlin was a daughter of the late George L. Davis and Lottie Rackley Davis of Nash County. She was born on July 3, 1918.

As a teenager in the early 1900s, she walked to a neighborhood church (Elm Grove) for weekly worship services. She professed her faith in Christ and subsequently was instrumental in her mother's profession of faith. She joined Duke Memorial Baptist Church in 1947. After moving out of the area for several years, the family returned in 1950 when she became an active member for the remainder of her life. From 1953 until 2012, she served as Chairperson of the Church Cemetery and Duke Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.

At the age of 50, she began a career by enrolling in Vance Granville Community College earning Nursing Aide Certification. She was employed at Franklin Memorial Hospital followed by Dr. Hannah's Office until retirement in 1998 at the age of 80.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmo Medlin; young sons Curtis Medlin and Joseph Medlin of the home; daughter Peggy Medlin Pearce of Cedar Rock; grandchildren Steven Reese and Tommee Reese of Henderson; and sisters Belle Wishowsky of Delaware and Georgie Bellis of Florida.

As she faced many challenging situations during her lifetime, she became an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. We will remember her for her strength, independence, determination, her love as a mother, her service in health care and her talents and skills in sewing.

She lived a full, active life and loved her family and friends. She traveled, had a career in health care and served her church. At times, we feel she has lived several lives…her first life from birth to young adult, her second life as a homemaker and caring for two disabled sons, and her third life starting a career by enrolling in a local Community college at the age of 50. In the final stage of her lives, she has gone to live with the Lord and is now living her eternal heavenly life. Regardless of which life she was living at the time, her faith, love for Christ and service to the Lord and to the church remained her main purpose in life. She was truly an inspiration to her family and friends.
