Patti graduated from Athens Area High School in 1964. She worked of Tomasso's Restaurant for several years before leaving many sad customers to begin a career at The Guthrie Med. Supply Depot in Sayre as a Customer Service Rep. She worked there until the time of her illness. Her fond hope was to return to work, be with her friends and to continue her career.
Pat loved life and faced it with a smile and a positive attitude. Patti and Jim tended their beautiful flower garden, hosting their many friends with frequent garden parties and events. Their garden was referred to as Longway Gardens, a parody of Longwood Gardens in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Patti loved Halloween, the holiday that was recognized by Jim and Patti as their Anniversary date. They loved to dress up in holiday costumes. Patti's favorite was a troll costume. She delighted her friends with her antics and role-playing. It is Jim and Patti's wish that the friends will think of her on sunny days and remember the good times and the wonder that life brings to those who are willing to embrace it as she did every day on this earth.
She is survived by her brother Peter Dixon; her sons, Donald Mertz and Michael Alexander; and her daughter Michelle Clark.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at the Lowery Funeral Home 225 South Main Street, Athens, Pa. 18810. The visting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service beginning at 1 p.m.
The family requests all donations in her memory be given to the Guthrie Hospice in appreciation for the kindness and care shown during Patti's illness.
