Mary Idell Gadberry Campbell, 94, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013, in Bowie, Texas.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Bowie.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 til' 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the White Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bowie, Hospital Auxiliary, or Hospice of Rural Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

Idell was born August 11, 1919 to Henry Clay and Emma Ellen (Fincher) Gadberry near Starkey in Montague County, Texas. The family lived in several communities while Idell was growing up, but she graduated from Ringgold High School in 1936 at the age of 16, having skipped a grade. After graduating from Texas State College for Women (TWU) in 1940, Idell taught school for seven years before marrying Cecil Elwood (Woody) Campbell in Nocona, Texas on June 9, 1945. They resided in Nocona until 1951 when the Campbells moved to Bowie to be closer to their theater business. Idell was a homemaker and home economics teacher; a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered over 1,000 hours. Idell was also a member of the Texas Angus Auxiliary and Home Demonstration Club, and she was a 4-H leader.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Gadberry; husband, Woody Campbell; and brother, Henry Grinnell Gadberry.

Idell is survived by her two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Swinney and husband, Daryl of Mansfield and Cecilia Ann Jay and husband, James of Gorman; son, Jim Campbell of Bowie; sister, Avis Willine Wood of Denton; four grandchildren, Thurman Lee Jay III of Lubbock, James Russell Jay of Stephenville, Stacy Elizabeth Swinney and Michael Lynn Swinney of Mansfield; and nephew, Paul Wood and wife Debra of Boonsville.
