Military Rites For Harry Yeany Today

Nineteen -Year Old Beaver Township Boy Killed In 1945

Remains of Staff Sergeant Harry Frederick Yeancy will be re-interred today following services at the Stoner Funeral Home, at the Westview cemetery, in Summerville. Rev. A. F. Thomas will officiate at services in the funeral home at 2:00 p. m. Military rites will be conducted by George T. Rodgers Post of the American Legion, of Brookville.

S-Sgt. Yeany, popularly known as "Jimmy," was killed in action over England March 26, 1945. He served as a member of the 452nd Bombardier Group of the 728th Bomb Squadron of the Third Air Division. S-Sgt. Yeany had completed twenty-two missions as a ball turret gunner aboard a B-24 and it was on the twenty-third mission he made the supreme sacrifice.

S-Sgt. Harry F. Yeany, whose remains will be re-interred today at Westview cemetery following military rites at Stoner Funeral Home in Summerville. He was killed in action March 26, 1945. Second Lieutenant Clair Trilby, who was killed June 8, 1944, over Braintree, England, was re-interred at the military cemetery at Gettysburg Tuesday. Pfc. Burton Earl Lindemuth, native of Hazen, who will be re-interred today, July 15, at Temple cemetery. He lost his life in a glider crash in Newbury, England, December 12, 1944.

Many War Heroes To Receive Last Rites In Area This Week

Bodies of Those Killed in Service of Their Country Are Being Returned Here For Reburial at Request Of Immediate Families

Many heroes of World War II are being returned to this Country by request of their next of kin, and five services are being conducted in this vicinity this week. In addition, official notice has been received that several more are enroute home, including Pvt. Francis E. Timblin of Brookville, Cpl. Charles Wozniak, of Timblin and Pvt. Edward L. Plyler of Heathville. Two of the area funerals this week-end will be with full military rites.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Stoner Funeral Home in Summerville for the re-burial of Staff Sgt. Harry Frederick Yeaney, who lost his life in England March 26, 1945 while completing his 23rd bombing mission as a turret gunner on a Liberator B-24. He was returned to the United States at the request of his mother, and the remains arrived in Summerville early Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was born in Beaver township February 23, 1926, the son of Earl and Dolly Brocious Yeaney. Before entering services he had been employed in Lancaster and Youngstown. He entered service in the United States Army Air Corps in March, 1944 and was transferred overseas in December of the same year where he was a member of the 728th Bomb squadron of the Third Air Division.

Surviving are his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Clarence A., of Brookville; Mrs. Edna Bish and Earl, of Summerville Mrs. Blanche Mohney, Summerville R. D. 1; Mervin of Marienville; David of Youngstown; Georga R. of Mayport R. D. 1; and Mrs. Gladys Snyder and Woodrow of Mayport R. D. 3.
