BALISH Isabel Balish, age 89, of Bridgeport, devoted sister of Alice Stenger, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 25, 2004, in Astoria Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center of Bridgeport. Isabel was born May 5, 1915 in San Francisco, Calif. to Alexander Balish and Jessie (Dowaliby) Balish. She grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Warren Harding High School. She was a retired secretary for Bridgeport Public Schools, Bridgeport, CT. Isabel was an avid golfer at Fairfield Wheeler Golf course and enjoyed bowling and was a world traveler. Although she never married, Izzy was a favorite aunt to several nieces and nephews and their families. On Mother's day, she always got cards. Izzy was always there to lend a hand to her family and friends. Isabel received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. She is survived by her sister, Alice Stenger of Monroe; beloved nephews, Carl Stenger and wife, Pam, of Shelton, Robert Stenger and wife, Deborah, of Bridgeport; Thomas Stenger and wife, Bernadette, of Falston, Md., Rodger Stenger and wife, Eeva, of Belair, MD., Harry Forbes of New York, N.Y., Donald Dowaliby and wife, Janice, of Cheshire, Raymond Dowaliby of Providence, RI., William Abalon and wife, Barbara, of Dulith, Minn., Janice Stenger of Cambridge, Mass., Barbara Schmitt and husband, John, of The Plains, Va., Marcia Lafayette and husband, Jack, of Kinnelon, N.J., Marilyn Abalon and husband, William, of Minneapolis, Minn. and Cathy Abalon of Duluth, Minn. Services are being held on Thursday, October 28, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Route 111, Monroe, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in St. Jude's Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Route 25, Newtown, CT.
