died in Pittsburgh on the 18th of December 1916. His gravestone appears in
United Cemetery, but FAG contributor #47156952 indicates that cemetery records
at the local library in Chester, West Virginia say Richard died on the 17th of
December in 1916 and is buried in Locust Hill Cemetery. Richard's father,
Richard Bird, Sr.was later buried in the Locust Hill Cemetery, and Richard's
mother, Annie Patterson Bird was also buried in United Cemetery. The family had
lived in both Pittsburgh and in Chester, and it is possible that disagreement
over the appropriate place of burial led to or was consequential of an
estrangement of the family, as disruption occurred about the same time.
