Loyes H. Knotts , 74, passed away March 4, 1997. Born in Waynesburg, Pa., he was an area resident for 51 years. Mr. Knotts was an Army Air Corps veteran and a life member of Ex-POWs, V.F.W., D.A.V., and the 17B Prison Camp Organization. He was shot down over Germany and spent 13 months in prison camp 17-B in Krems, Austria. He was a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, 44th Bomb Group Veterans Association, and the Catapillar Club. He was employed by the Marathon Oil Co. as an administrative assistant at the Akron office, retiring in 1978, and was a 45-year member of the Akron Baptist Temple.

He was preceded in death by parents, sister, Virginia, and brother, Harold. He will be missed by family and friends.
