Died 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 1989, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 69, and a native of Hornbeck. He was a retired funeral director and Neiman Marcus employee, Houston, Texas. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. Visiting at Hollabaugh-Spindle Wooddale Memorial Chapel, 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday. Religious services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, conducted by Dr. Terrance Ellis. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Survived by wife, June C. Brown; three daughters, Susan Wallace, Haines City, Fla., Vicky Hargrove, Baton Rouge, and Carolyn Mills, Ventura, Calif.; two sisters, Edith Rogers, Baton Rouge, and Anna Francis Wyatt, Decatur, Ga.; a brother, Maurice L. Brown Jr., East Point, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Kimberly Mills, Santa Barbara, Calif., Kristen Mills, Ventura, Bridget Hayes, Baton Rouge, U. Shelby Hargrove III, Baton Rouge, and Christopher Lemke, Atlanta, Ga.

Preceded in death by father, Maurice L. Brown; and mother, Irene Sholars Brown.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Lemke, U. Shelby Hargrove III, Ronald Cobb, Bryan Dean, Charles R. Pevey Jr., Darryl Hayes, Mark Brown and Buddy Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Pelham E. Mills III, U. Shelby Hargrove Jr., Dr. T.R. Kilpatrick, Dr. Milton Cunningham, Merle Welsh and Dr. Richard Kearley.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, past member of Sertoma International and a member of Goodwood Baptist Church.
