Mary Patricia Stone was born June 13, 1929 to Emily and Marshall Stone in Long Branch, New Jersey.
On July 9, 1950 she married George E. Melton.
Together they raised five children.
She always enjoyed writing so she came by her career as a journalist and author naturally. She interviewed numerous business people and divulged some of their secrets of success.
She was a syndicated columnist for over fifteen years and became an author at the age of 69 of an adventure novel titled "Lost With All Hands."
She always said she had a wonderful life, with amazing children and a husband that was a joy.
She was a member of the National Association of American
Pen Women.
She is survived by four of her five children; James (Nauecho) Melton, Steve (Barbara) Melton, Mary Katherine (Al) Miller, Martha (Peter) Daniels; six loving grandchildren, Rachel, Rosemary, Ian, Joshua, Sarah, and Juliana; a sister, Prudence Ann Lamport; and a daughter-in-law, Jolanta Melton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Marshall and Emily Stone; as well as her husband, George; and eldest son, John.
