Thomas Jefferson Carr , the son of George Jefferson Carr and Mary Cornelia Christian Carr , was born September 5 , 1921 in Lee County , Mississippi . He joined the National Guard as a young man in 1937 . Thomas Jefferson Carr and his sweetheart who became his wife ( Annie Kathryn ) graduated from Mooreville High School in 1940 . Then in November , 1940 he was drafted into the Army to serve in World War II until September , 1945 serving in General George Patton's Third Army in France , Germany , Belgium , and Luxembourg . Following the war he returned to his position in the National Guard and continued until retiring from that in 1979 . He and his wife Annie Kathryn had two daughters- Brenda and Benita , and one son Thomas M. Carr . Thomas Jefferson Carr served as a deacon for his church Richmond Baptist Church and was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge more than fifty years with 32nd degree Scottish Rite degree and having served as a Master . He was employed by Leggett & Platt until he retired there . Following that retirement he was employed by WalMart in the garden center . His hobbies and interests included gardening and yard work , fishing , and travel . Thomas Jefferson Carr died in his residence in the Andrew's Chapel Community on August 30 , 2009 . His wife Annie Kathryn Carr who died Nov. 28 , 2006 , parents , and 2 brothers ( Demp and Troy Carr) preceded him in death . He was survived by his daughters and son , six grandchildren , four great grandchildren , and one brother Hoyle .
