Betty Ann Selin, age 91, wife for 60 years to the late Theodore W. Selin, died Friday October 25, 2013, at Saint Joseph Hospital, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born February 16, 1922, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Robert Harold Poindexter, Sr., and Frances VanDeren Poindexter. Betty Ann was a graduate of Cynthiana High School, Stephens College, in Columbia, Missouri, and the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a veteran of World War II, a WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), serving at the Saint Albans Naval Hospital, in New York, in the clinical laboratory. She was a medical technologist, certified by the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology). She was a member of Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, Cynthiana Country Club, Kentucky Society of Mayflower Descendants and Anna Myers McKee Circle. She was a Kentucky Colonel and an avid golfer.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty Ann was preceded in death by: a son, Theodore "Teddy" Selin; and a brother, Robert Harold Poindexter, Jr. She is survived by: three children, Robert P. (Connie) Selin, of Lexington, William P. (Debbie) Selin, of Cynthiana, and Ann Selin (Lyle) Dorsey, of Flemingsburg; five grandchildren, Jenny Marie (Greg) Dinsmoor, Will (Taffy) Selin, Russell Dorsey, Laura Dorsey and Parker Selin; three step-grandchildren, Jeremy Ross, Tiffany Ross and Tara (James) Custard; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Dinsmoor, Gavin Dinsmoor and Alexandra Dinsmoor; four step-great-grandchildren, Kaydon Custard, Keylee Custard, Kingston Custard and Soliel Little; a nephew, Bobby Poindexter, of Cynthiana; and a sister-in-law, Jane Poindexter, of Cynthiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Patrick Laney. Burial will follow the service at Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers are Will Selin, Russell Dorsey, Lyle Dorsey, Bobby Poindexter, Parker Selin and Tom McKee.
