"My father, William Pratt "Will" Bush, DDS, was a very interesting man and a great father. He was very active. He was a 32 degree mason, and a lay minister in the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. He was a musician and made violins and cellos, and he sang with the Oakland Choir. He painted in oils, made telescopes, and took both still and movie pictures. He took his children to camps in the High Sierras. After coming home one Sunday from church, we went on a picnic. The hillside was blanketed with yellow California poppies and he took a movie of Carol and I playing in them. The hills are not like that anymore. After it rained in Berkeley, we would go up in the hills on property owned by the water company and gather wild mushrooms -- the best I've ever tasted. I think my father was a very happy man. He lost his speech and was completely bedridden for 10 years following a stoke before he passed away."
