EZRA D. WEBSTER was born near Mount Zion, Grant Co., Ky., in 1846, and
is the third of a family of ten children, born to Pendleton and Elizabeth
(Poland) Webster. Pendleton Webster, a native of Grant County, was born
in 1820, and is a son of Daniel and Sarah (Cowgill) Webster, natives of
Fayette County. Pendleton Webster is a farmer in the northern part of
Grant County. He and his family are members of the Baptist Church. Mrs.
Elizabeth (Poland) Webster, a native of Tennessee, was born in 1821,
and is a daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Crouch) Poland. Ezra D. Webster
was reared on the farm, and followed that occupation until August, 1886,
when he was appointed deputy sheriff, and in January, 1887, he became
sheriff of Grant County, to take the place of E. K. Green, who resigned.
At present he is the nominee of the Democratic party for re-election.
Mr. Webster is a member of the I.O.O.F., and during his official term
resides in Williamstown. He is unmarried, but is a man of high social
standing.
