James "Jim" Madden age 81, passed away on October 21st, 2013 after fighting a lengthy battle from complications of smoke inhalation due to a fire in his home on Sept. 29th.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores, his sister, Ruth Mary of Columbus, OH, his 4 children, Terri (Rick) Pabst, James Madden, Laura (Mike) Nolan & Julie (Donny) Ashley, 8 grandchildren, Jonathan, Dan, Mike, Dylan, Erin, Jake, Mikaela & Olivia & many nieces & nephews.

He was presently working at Dots Market. Jim was the owner of 3rd & Linden Market from 1977-1995, then fought and won a courageous battle with cancer.

He was a member of the East Dayton Optimists Club.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel on Wed. Oct. 23rd, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a funeral service held on Thurs. Oct. 24th at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to the Wounded Warriors Project.
