My Kitty Fur Sister Dusty Kitty Meow Meow Barnes

Cookie Dough was a save. She had fallen out of the back of a moving truck on Highway 342 in Red Oak, TX. and her front left leg snapped and her paw pad was ripped off. She hobbled up and down Dunn Street looking for love. She found my house. This happened about July 9th 2003. My Granny died on July 8th - and I think she sent cookie to love me - I will always believe this. Blanca (soon to be her furry sister) and I were just in dealing with Granny's death when Cookie was running up on the porch, hungry -- "smiling" and happy! Her expressions were nearly human. Blanca was very jealous, so I decided to raise the garage door where she could crawl in and be safe at night and be in out of the Texas summer sun. Greeting her every morning and evening to and from work, feeding her and seeing her in the driveway when I would return from errands warmed my heart. Blanca even began to like her. This went on through October 2003... I just did not need 2 large dogs (I thought). Then on Halloween Night - I was working late and I became so frightened that she would be taken away.. I sped home and hugged her and took her in the house to her FOREVER home and family. --- Many years of happiness and travels followed.
.
We even got a Daddy in 2007 and moved away to a new house. But Cookie did become her Daddy's girl. She loved Bernard so much. She was 65 lbs. but she became his lap dog. We kidded her being an over-sized chihuahua - but enjoyed her setting up in our laps. She was all about her Daddy.
Change did not go over to easy - as you can see in the pics, a wooden fence was not working out to well. This was a work of art by "my termite" Blanca, Cookie just grinned through it all. Cookie always lived in the house, she loved to go out for walks, and I would take "my girls" everywhere in the car with me. Everyone knew us coming down the road. I would tell people -"they are twins"... they would say "REALLY?" -- But they were both just alike - my girls.

.
Cookie's passing was sudden. She had been throwing up for a couple of days. I was buying different types of dog food, thinking her tummy was not liking the food. I was so sadly wrong. Did not know her kidneys were failing. Upon taking her to the vet, she was too far gone and very frail. I wish I would have known about kidney failure and it's symptoms. I still have guilt that I could have done more had I only known. I am so sorry she left too soon... I love you Cookie, Daddy loves you, Blanca, Rueger, Dixie and Dexter loves you... Always...
