Ray served as a Private First Class, 10th Infantry, 5th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 11, 1944 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He was noted as being employed as a structural and ornamental metal worker and also as Married.

Ray was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Service # 33942936

At the families request, his state of birth was added to his headstone (Pennsylvania) instead of his state of residence (Maryland).
