"Mrs. Salassi was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was a graduate of Carr Central High School. She worked for the Valley Dry Goods Co. as a cashier. She served with the U.S Army WAC Detachment in World War II serving in New Guinea as a clerk-typist and driver for the Motor Transportation Department. She joined the U.S Army Reserve in 1950. Her decorations include Asiatic-Pacific Theator Campaign Metal, Bronse Star, Good Conduct Metal, Victory Ribbon and two overseas service bars. She a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars."

Annie and Walter were responsible in 1985 for publishing the thousands of tombstone records that they collected and catalogued during their retirement years.

All of us salute them on this remarkable accomplishment.
