He was born March 17, 1896 at Saxton, a son of A. Daniel and Mary (Figard) Neary. He was twice married. The first union was with Ada Smucker on Sept. 9, 1915 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 1941.
He married Margaret Keller on Jan. 27, 1945 and she survives, along with one son, Arthur R. Neary of Huntingdon and these three step-children: W. Francis Keller, Huntingdon; Donald E. Keller, Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Thompson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive, along with one brother, Earl E. Neary of Huntingdon. Four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Twelfth Street United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Huntingdon Knights of Pythias. Mr. Neary retired as a Prudential Insurance Company agent after 35 years of service. Prior to working for Prudential, he was with the Jewel Tea Company.
He was a life member of the Huntingdon No. 2 Fire Company. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman as long as his health permitted. He had been a resident of Huntingdon since he was 16 years of age.
Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery.
