Born June 14,1921 in Lawrenceville, he was the son of Oscar R. "Joe" Carter and Jessie Pearl (Taylor) Carter. He retired from Briggs Manufacturing Company, Robinson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
March 21, 1946 he married Frances L. Conover and she survives. Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Nancy Carter, rural Robinson, Steve and Chris Carter, and Rod Carter, all of Robinson; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Ernie Kohl, Parkman, Ohio, Karen and Bob Kaiser, Albuquerque, N.M., Dee and Dave Aten, and Rita Midgett, Robinson; a brother, Bill Carter, Flat Rock; a sister, Irma Barrett, Robinson; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents and three brothers, Taylor Carter, Cloyd Carter, and Troyd Carter.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, with Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating. Burial is in Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and until time of services Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Crawford Post #4549, V.
