Born Feb. 16, 1927 in Lawrence County, he was a son of Oscar Raymond and Jessie Pearl Taylor Carter. He was a member of the Plymouth Christian Church in Robinson where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy; and he was a postal mail carrier for the Robinson Post Office for 20 years.
He married Ruth Brashear and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Carla) Sinclair, and Mrs. Bret (Sarah) Callaway, both of Robinson; a sister, Mrs. Maurice (Irma) Barrett, Robinson; two brothers, Ernest Carter, Robinson, and Bill carter, Flat Rock; two grandchildren, Gina and Andy Sinclair, Robinson.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Taylor Carter and his twin brother, Troyd Carter.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at Plymouth Christian Church in Robinson with Rev. Charles Russell in charge. Burial is in Palestine Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be to the new emergency room equipment fund at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
