Second Lieutenant Morris was killed piloting U.S. Army Air Corps A-20G Havoc #42-54040 in a crash at sea, approx. four miles offshore from Calcasieu Pass, Cameron Parish, Louisiana serving with the 669th Bomb Squadron, 416th Bomb Group.


The crew of this flight had departed nearby Lake Charles Army Airfield shorty before the accident occurred.
