Dale Duane Augustin, 79, Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village, Grand Forks.
Dale was born June 26, 1929 in rural St. Thomas, ND, the son of Wilhelm and Sophia (Hartje) Augustin. He attended a one room schoolhouse for eight years and graduated from St. Thomas High School. He furthered his education in Minneapolis, MN, where he lived and worked until returning to St. Thomas, to work with his brother on the family farm.
He married Margaret Timian on November 16, 1952 in rural Crystal, ND.
Dale served in the U. S. Army from 1953-1955, living in Alaska the last 17 months of his military service. He moved to Grand Forks, ND where he made his career as a Licensed General Insurance Agent. He was associated with Mutual of Omaha for ten years and Pioneer Mutual Insurance Company for the rest of his career. Dale loved his work and never retired.
Dale and Margaret vacationed in Hawaii every year for 25 years. They also enjoyed fishing and trips to the lake near Bemidji, MN.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, Grand Forks, ND; sons, Steven, Grand Forks and Paul (Marlene), Grand Forks; daughters, Debra (Dave) Schulenberg, Roseville, MN and Peggy (Ken) Carlson, Waunakee, WI; grandchildren, Adam and Grant Carlson; step-grandchildren, Brent, Brad and Brooke Schulenberg; and sister, Marion Drees, Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by siblings, Lorenz Augustin, Dorothea Mix, Waldorf Augustin, Lucille Bohnsack, Wilfred Augustin and Victor Augustin.
