Richard C. Murray, 85, 229 Beggars Row Rd., Elkton, died of respiratory failure in Laurelwood Nursing Center on Thursday, Aug. 11, 1988 after a long illness.

He was born in Grant, Va., on Apr. 3, 1903, but lived in Cecil County for most of his life. He worked with Maryland Materials and Elk Paper Manufacturing Co., before working eight years as a plumber and retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Baptist Bible Church in Elkton and was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma A. Murray; a son, Richard Donald Murray of Fernley, Nev.; three daughters, Betty Jo Mahala of Elkton, Patricia Murray Price and Barbara J. Zahn, both of Elkton; a sister, Stella Reedy of Sugar Grove; one step-brother and four step-sisters; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday, Aug. 14 at Hicks Home for Funerals in Elkton. Dr. Tom Berry, pastor of Baptist Bible Church in Elkton, officiated. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Union, Md.
