Idell Winchester, age 89 of Tulsa, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at her home in Osage County.
Idell was born on October 12, 1923, in Tennyson, Texas, to Roland Edward and Mary Eliza "Lyda" (Hall) Alexander.
After graduating from high school, Idell worked at the North American plant in Dallas riveting nose cones onto bomber planes that were being used in the war effort. She met and married a soldier serving in the U. S. Army, Woodrow "Woody" Winchester. The couple settled in Tulsa in 1959, where they raised three children, and enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage. Idell retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse
in the late 1970s. She was a member of Osage Hills Christian Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Idell was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; son, Rolland; and grandson, Jeremy Winchester; brothers, Winford and Lloyd Alexander; sisters, Iva Grant, Ollie Phears, and Pattie Stagner.
