Rites Scheduled Saturday For Fred Bartels
Funeral services for Fred Bartels, who died at Yankton Tuesday evening, are scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday in the American Lutheran Church in Huron. The Rev. Erling Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Bartels was born March 10, 1889, in Tobias, Neb., the son of August and Lena Bartels. He spent most of his youth on a farm. At the age of 17, he came with his parents to a farm southwest of Alpena. He was married to Marie Scheel Feb. 16, 1916, in Alpena. To this union, two sons, Glenville and Earl, were born. They resided on the farm until 1956 when he retired and mvoed to Huron.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, three grandchildren, three brothers, Herman, Lane; martin, Rapid city; Albert, Woonsocket; four sisters, Ann, mrs. Wiley Davis, Wessington; Sophie, Mrs. Gus Garbe, Alpena; Mrs. ida Scheel, Alpena; Pauline, Mrs. Carl Scheel, Wolsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Friends may call at the Welter Funeral Home Thursday evening or Friday afternoon or evening.
The family prefers memorials.
