ABERSOLD, Vance William
Age 64, passed away on Sept. 3, 2005 in Anchorage, Alaska. Born July 15, 1941 in Stockton, CA, and a resident of Alaska since 1989. He graduated from Manteca High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley. He served in the Army Reserves and worked for the State of California as a civil engineer where he retired after 28 years in order to become a self-employed business man. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was actively involved in the Autism Society of America. The challenge as Vance saw it was not avoiding death but was instead living life to the fullest. "Everyone dies," he said, "but very few truly live." To the final end, he lived his life to the very fullest. We will miss his vitality and his childlike love of all things wild and free in the great outdoors. He was a man to match the Alaskan wilderness - Vance Abersold, the Kenai King. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Evelyn and William Abersold. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Abersold, daughter Stacey Waters of Thousand Oaks, CA, son, Glenn Abersold of Livermore, CA, daughter, Susan Boom of San Jose, CA, son, Michael Boom of Raeford, NC, son-in-law, Kris Waters of Thousand Oaks, CA, daughter-in-law, Shannon Abersold of Livermore, CA, and son-in-law, Maurice Ghysels of San Jose, CA. Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Arcade Church, 3927 Marconi Ave., Sacramento, CA. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento, CA.
