Mr. Eagles was a retired clerk-accountant for the T&G Railroad and a correspondent for the Monroe Morning World, the Shreveport Times and the Alexandria Town Talk.

He served two terms on the Winnfield City Council, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield and a former member of the Winnfield Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Newman Eagles on October 30, 1970.

He was survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rabie Reid and Mrs. Peggy Wood, both of Winnfield, and Mrs. Guinivere Allen of Joyce; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Scott of Winnfield, and Mrs. Nancy Jones of Longview, WA; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
