Granby,Mo.--Lola V. Darnell, 96, Granby, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday at Sale Hospital, Neosho, after a long illness.
Mrs. Darnell was born May 13, 1897, in Granby, and was a lifelong resident of the town. She graduated from Granby High School and later attend what is now Southwest Missouri State University.
She and her husband owned and operated Darnell's Grocery and Mercantile Store for 40 years. she also had been a schoolteacher.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. she was the church pianist and organist or more than 70 years. she was a piano teacher for over 30 years. She also was a member of the Granby Forum Study Club.
Her husband, Enos Darnell, died in January 1949.
Survivors include a son, Neil Darnell, Wichita Falls, Texas, a daughter, Leta Faye Ferrars, Las Vegas, Nev., three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m.at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Patterson will be officiating. Burial will be in Granby Memorial Cemetery.
