She was born Sept. 12, 1964 in Murray, Utah, to Bruce Henroid Ballard and Laura Ann Greenwood Ballard. She grew up in Draper and graduated from Alta High School in 1982. She married Kim Ray Thomas on Jan. 9, 1985 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, where they were sealed for time and eternity. They had four beautiful children - Richard 15, Adam 12, Camille 9, and Candice 9, - and her family was the pure joy of her life.
For several years, she worked for United Cerebral Palsy, providing loving care for disabled patients.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She was known for her artwork and her singing. For two decades, she sang with her six sisters at various events in the Salt Lake Valley.
She is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters, all of Bluffdale; her father and step-mother, Bruce and ReNae Ballard of Draper; her mother and step-father, Laura Ann and Carl Andreason of Midvale; three brothers, Bruce Ballard of Highland, Brian Ballard of Moab, and Brad Ballard of Aztec, New Mexico; six sisters, Beverly Bonham of Draper, Bonnie Kirkpatrick of Longmont, Colorado, Brenda Steadman of Midvale, MaryBeth Garrison of South Jordan, Betty Jo Tripp of Riverton, and Bridget Olson of American Fork; and more than 50 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2000 at 12 Noon in the Bluffdale 7th Ward Chapel, 15040 South Mountainside Drive (2400 West).
Friends may call Wednesday 7 - 9 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy, and Thursday at the Ward 11-11:45 a.m.. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
Her family would like to express its sincere appreciation to all of her friends, neighbors, relatives, and ward members for the time and effort they devoted to helping Barbara through this difficult time. Special thanks go to all the doctors and nurses at VistaCare Hospice for their dedicated and sensitive service and care.
