Death of Mrs. John Conway
Ola Hammer Conway was born May 3, 1875 in Franklin County, died May 24, 1897 at the age of 25 years and 21 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hammer, her mother having gone before just three months ago. Two years ago this month she was united in marriage to John Conway and to them a child was born, Gertrude, 14 months old. She died at the home of her sister, Mrs. P. Kennedy, of that dread disease, consumption, having lingered on the verge of death for the past two months. She knew her time was short and requested no white placed about her, for hers was too sad a death. She leaves to mourn her loss, a sorrowing husband, a motherless babe, father, three sisters and four brothers besides a host of friends. The funeral took place this morning at West Jefferson at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. B. M. Miller, after the remains were placed beside her mother in the West Jefferson cemetery.
