A. Dan Jones, 85, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at his residence.

He was born July 16, 1928, in Olive Hill, the son of the late Allison and Dorothy Clay Jones.

He was the owner of Dan's Auto Sales for 26 years and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Korean War Service Medal. He was a member of the Ashland Gideons.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Stan Jones, Allison Jones, Dalton Jones, Joe Jones and Nick Jones, and a sister, June Jones Tackett.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Ruby Collins Jones, a son, Dan Jones and his wife, Teri, of Ashland, his canine companion, Trooper, three sisters-in-law, Janet Jones of Ashland, Helen Jones of Phoenix and Marsha Jones of Ashland, a brother-in-law, Frank Tackett of Greenup, and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland, by the Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County. Military services will be by Kenova American Legion Post 93.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
