Birth: May 23, 1831
West Yorkshire, England
Death: Jan. 2, 1904
Sanilac County
Michigan, USA

Another grand old mother has lived her allotted time, has passed her three score and ten , has performed her work well and has now gone to reap the reward of a life well spent, the reward of a fond Christian mother, who toiled all her life for her family, and with the satisfaction of seeing them all grown to manhood and womanhood, she leaves the stage of action with the assurance of having done what she could and to enjoy riches of a glorious immortality beyond the grave.
Mrs. Rachel Flynn died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Duckworth in Flynn Township, with whom the old lady had lived since last April, Jan.2, 1904 after a lingering illness of two years. The funeral was held from the M. E. church at Peck on Wednesday with Undertaker McGrory in charge. The remains were interred in Elk cemetery. Mrs. Flynn was a strong and healthy woman all her life till two years ago when she received a stroke of paralysis. Though she rallied from this affliction yet she has since steadily failed in health.
Deceased was born in Yorkshire, England, May 23, 1831, coming to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boothby, when 15 years old and settled near Toronto, Ont. She was married to Thos. Flynn, also of English birth, Mar. 5, 1848, residing in Canada , till 1855 when they came to Michigan, and in 1856 settled in Flynn township, eight miles northeast of Brown City where she lived till eight years ago when she moved to Brown City with her son Robert, with whom she has since lived. She has been a widow since 1872. Deceased was the mother of 13 children, 7 sons and 6 daughters, all of which survive her and are in good health, who all live in this vicinity, but one daughter in Washington State. Mrs. Flynn died in the triumphs of a living faith. The names and residences of her children are as follows: Robert and William Flynn, of Brown City; Joseph, of Maple Valley township; Mary Frost, of Walla Walla, Wash.; Rachel Temple, of Sanilac Center; Ruth Hook and George Flynn, of Lamotte township; Louisa Duckworth, of Flynn township; Sarah Clark, of Maple Valley township; Violetta Blatt, of Elk township; Jesse, John, and Thomas Flynn, of Brown City
