Funeral services for Betty J. Bowe, 89, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Bowe passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.

Betty Jane Gibbons was born on April 24, 1924 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Robert and Irene (Dykstra) Gibbons. On June 2, 1940, she married Albert R. Bowe in Trenton, MO. He preceded her in death in 2011. Betty worked as a meat wrapper at Geifmans in Davenport prior to her retirement in 1980. She also served as one of the first school crossing guards in Davenport. Betty was a former member of the American Legion Auxillary – Post #26, serving as President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

She is survived by two Daughters: Hazel Bowe of Eldridge, IA, Linda (Al) Houck of Hot Springs, AR; two Sons: Paul (Ellie) Bowe of Davenport, Bob (Mary) Bowe of Naples, FL; a Sister-in-Law: Edith (Bob) Eaton of Clarion, IA; 7 Grandchildren; 18 Great-grandchildren and 17 Great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a step-brother, Lester Light.
