German screenwriter and actress. Born Maria Stern. A. k. a. Maria Solveg. Matray's first career was as an actress during the Weimar Republic of Germany, but this ended with the rise of the Nazis, whom she fled. In the 1950s she returned to Germany and to film--this time as a screenwriter, primarily for television.
