OBITUARY-
Maxine LaFon Bartels, 79, of Little Falls, formerly of LeRoy, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
Maxine was born Oct. 21, 1921, to Ora E. and James C. Whisler in Osage, Iowa. She married Kenneth E. Bartels on Sept. 21, 1942, in Boston, Maine. They farmed for many years in southern Minnesota and in northern Iowa before moving to the Little Falls area in 1964. She was a waitress at the Hub Cafe in Little Falls for 17 years and also at the Black and White Cafe in Little Falls for two years. Her husband Kenneth died Aug. 28, 1981. Maxine enjoyed baking, gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Paycer, Little Falls; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Burton Whisler, Centralia, Wash.; sisters, Fern Clark, Charles City, Iowa, Ora Hoff, Renton, Wash. and Dorothy Baker, Pittsburg, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; an infant son; daughter, Fonda Owens; son-in-law, Robert Paycer; brothers, Ray Whisler and Jake Whisler; sisters, Velma Ackerman, Gladys Jones and Mayme Sorenson.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Jim Mikkelson officiating.
Interment: Grandview Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Kevin Andersen, Dean Dykemann, Robert Kuhlman, Jan Whisler, Duane Martin and Merle Krueger.
Arrangements are with Brenny-Simonet Funeral Home (East Chapel) in Little Falls and Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin.
