Casimera was called Kay or Kazia by her family. Later Carrie. She is the daughter of Wojciech (George) and Maryanna (nee Wojciechowski) Maciejewski grew up at 84 Cable Street, Buffalo, New York with her siblings: Teddy, Chester, Mary, Frances, Johnny, Frankie, Hattie, Pearl. The neighborhood was known as 'Kaisertown'. Out of all her brothers and sisters, Kay was considered the 'wild child' by her family.

Kay married Emil A. Knospe on July 18, 1939. They raised their children Emil E., Camille, Clarine and Eric on Pulaski Street, Cable Street and Weimar Street in Buffalo, New York later moving to Organ Crescent in West Seneca, New York.

Kay was the Grandmother of six Grandchildren and one Great-Grandchild.
