Catherine was born Katarzyna. She was known as Kate or Katie. Kate was born in 1886 in Krakow Poland living with her parents ??? Choczynski who were very wealthy. Kate's Father was Mayor of the Town or Village where they lived. He was very powerful. Kate was carried as a young child so she did not have to walk. Kate was very close to her Father. Kate's Father died in 1905. She was very upset over his death. The family decided she should go to America to get over her Father dying and visit relatives. Kate had a lot of jewelry, but was not allowed to take it with her.

Kate arrived in America in 1906. She met and married George Dubel January 15, 1908. Kate never went back to Poland leaving all her personal belongings behind. Together they raised their children: Frances, Mary, Johnny, Al, Helen and Eddie, at 25 Lombard Street, 928 Clinton Street and 888 Clinton Street, Buffalo, New York USA.
Baby Mary, died in 1918 of the Spanish Flu and Helen died from burns in a fire in 1946. Please visit their Memorial.
Kate was very religious, very strict, very clean, a perfectionist. Kate could speak, read and write Polish and English, but she did not like to speak English at home. She was afraid she would make a mistake speaking English. Kate was a great cook making a lot of soups and stews. She was known for her melt in your mouth veal and potato soup. Frances, her daughter, called this "European Cooking" because she did not cook all the traditional Polish meals. Kate passed on her sewing, knitting and crocheting skills to her daughters Frances and Helen.
Kate and George's children celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on January 15, 1959 with a dinner given at their home.
Kate died of stomach cancer recovering from an operation at the home of her daughter Frances on Orchard Park Road, West Seneca, New York.
Kate was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and the Apostolstwa Modality (Polish for Apostolate of Prayer).
Funeral at Pietszak Funeral Home, 806 Clinton Street, Buffalo, New York and at Holy Apostles Peter & Paul Church.
Catherine and George are buried with their daughter, Helen B. Odrzywolski. Helen's husband remarried after her death and gave the remaining graves to her Mother and Father when Helen's Mother died.
