Merritt "Pete" Strawn 85 of Wareham died Wednesday November 29, at Tobey Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Mary (Florindo) Strawn.

Born in Reigelsville, Pennsylvania, he moved to Wareham as a child and lived here 44 years. He was the owner of Strawn Buick Company in Wareham for 36 years, retiring in 1972.

He moved to Quakerstown, Pennsylvania, in 1972 and spent the next 22 years there as a member of the Richarstown Lions. He moved back to Wareham in 1994.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three son, Philip and Edward Strawn, both of Wareham, and Lee Strawn of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Christine Fielding of Wareham and LouAnn Cuddemi of New Bedford; two brothers, LaMar Strawn of Middleboro and Ward Strawn of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Grace Beam and Violet Nalepa, both of Pennsylvania, and Gladys Lindberg of Florida; 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, December 2, at the Stott, Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Wareham.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham 01701, or to the First Congregational Church, 5 Gibbs Avenue, Wareham, 02571.
