SARAH FRANCES ELLIS

Sarah Frances Ellis was born in North Salem, Indiana, April 27, 1855, and died August 25, 1929, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 29 days.
She was married to Bransbee Liston Ellis, December 27, 1874. To this union was born three children, Charley, Bert and Jessie.
Charley Preceded his mother in death when only an infant, and Bert died in 1905 at the age of 28.
Her husband passed away in November 1927 leaving only her daughter Jessie of her immediate family.
Those to mourn her death are, her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Zeek, of Mitchellville. Her three grandchildren, Florence Toomey, Bonnie Herbold and Frances Zeek. She also had three little great grandchildren. The six sisters and four brothers which she left are: Mrs. Mollie Boyd, of Grinnell, Iowa, Mrs. Hattie Rooker, of New London, Iowa, Mrs. Joliette Ridgeway of Coon Rapids, Mrs. Carrie Prather, of Laurens, Mrs. Gertrude Bickelhaupt, of Des Moines, Mrs. Florence Booton, of Spirit Lake, Mr. Arthur Deane, Des Moines, Mr. Willis Deane, of Utan, Neb., Mr. Milt Deane, of Bridgeport, Neb., Mr. Henry Deane, of Bridgeport, Neb.
Mother Ellis has been bedfast for the past nine years. Her heart was always filled with the greatest joy when her friends and dear ones were near her.
She united with the Christian church of North Salem, Indiana, when a young girl and remained a faithful member until her death.
Mrs. Ellis was always willing and glad to brighten and help the sick and afflicted.
To those who have known her during the years of her sickness she was a rock of strength and shelter in time of storm; she was sunshine and blessing in grief and sorrow; she was courage and cheer personified. We never saw her except with a smile. We never heard one word of fault-finding nor complaint. We never heard her talk of herself, even when her own loved one was laid away. If we entered, she wanted the Bible read and a season of prayer. We came to her in hours of grief and without telling her of it, forgot it as we realized her courage thru years of suffering.
To some of us she was as near perfect as it is possible for a human to be.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Christian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. Dwight Walker. Mrs. R. V. Hughes led the service in a beautiful prayer. Burial was made in the Mitchellville cemetery.
