Matt Finch Lindsay, known as "Pat", served in the U.S. Army during WWI as a military policeman. He was on a ship to France when the war was declared to be over. He was stationed at Camp Pena Colorado in Brewster County, Texas near the Big Bend area in the early 1920's. There he met his wife-to-be, Annie Lee Smith, who was living with her sister, Mary Bell Wyatt & her husband, Wm. Roy Wyatt, at that time. He was born in Corsicana, Texas to Dorcas Ann (Burk) and John Preston Lindsay.

During the early 1930's, the Lindsays were engaged in farming in the Mission-McAllen, Texas area for a time, a primary citrus growing community. They came to California in the late 1930's-early 1940's and they worked in defense plants in the Los Angeles area during WW II. Following that war, they resided in San Luis Obispo county, operating an antique store in Atascadero.

The Lindsays had a son, "Pat", who was born in Texas in 1924. He joined the U.S. Army during WW II as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division & served in England & Europe during that time. He was a Colonel stationed at the Pentagon at the time of his death in 1972. His Find-A-Grave memorial no. is 49248148.

Mr. Lindsay was a brother-in-law to Wm. Roy & Mary Wyatt; Virgil G. and Gussie (Page) Smith, all of Atascadero, all now deceased and buried nearby in Pine Mountain Cemetery.

Dear Uncle "Pat", You always made us laugh with your sense of humor & everything we did was lots of fun, even when you played "Santa Claus". Thanks for the memories!Your niece, Gerry.
