Beswick Dies At Home Of Son Here
Mrs. Mary Wood Beswick passed away at the home of her son Harold Beswick, about 6:30 o'clock Thursday morning, following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Beswick had been in failing health for several years and of recent weeks had been failing rapidly.
She was born on April 22, 1854, in Clyde township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wood. She was united in marriage to William A. Beswick on Jan. 1, 1875, and resided on a farm in Clyde township until about 26 years ago, when they moved to Morrison to make their home. Her husband died in 1912, and she has made her home with relatives since that time.
Seven children were born to her, Elmer of Ashland, Ore., Mrs. Sarah Burch, Lorenzo A., Fred, Mrs. Roy Bull and Harold, all of Morrison, and Alvaro of Kuna, Idaho, who survive her. She is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Thomas Wood and Mrs. Charles Kennedy of Morrison, George and Harry Wood of Bozeman, Mont., Mrs. Robert Cochran of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Pierre Jackson of Chicago, besides 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Beswick became a member of the Episcopal church in early life and has been affiliated with it since. She was also an active member until late years of the Royal Neighbors lodge.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of her son, Harold Beswick, at 309 south Genesee street. Interment will take place in Grove hill cemetery.-- The Whiteside Sentinel, 23 Aug 1929, front pg.
