Mr. Levon Calvin Register Sr., age 85, of Franklin Springs and formerly of Signal Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Athens.
Mr. Register was born in Vero Beach, Fla., on October 23, 1927, son of the late Abbott D. and Ivy Benton Register. He was a CPA as well as a Partner with Arthur Anderson & Company. He attended the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a member of the Emmanuel College Board of Education for 35 years, along with many other organizations. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Register was preceded in death by his wife, Elmaise Turnage Register. They shared a passion for antiques and were avid collectors and dealers.
Mr. Register was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Levon (Ruth) Register II, of Colbert, Dan (Sarah) Register, of Havana, Fla., Vicki (Skip) Eldredge, of Athens, and Bette, of Franklin Springs, (Jamey) Rogers, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Gene Register, of Melborne, Fla., and Glen Register, of Tallahassee, Fla.; and sister, Evelyn Register Kunkler, of Tampa, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 16, at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family is at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. Register will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, at the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Dr. C.Y. Melton officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Interment will follow in the Franklin Springs City Cemetery.
