Funeral service for Bobbie Dean Parker Blankenship, 80, will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2 pm at Curtis & Son North Chapel with Bro. Sonny Riggins and Bro. Mark Parkhurst officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Blankenship passed away August 10, 2013 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15. Our mother loved the Lord and her church family, Mignon Church of Christ and enjoyed hosting evangelists and their family during the summer revivals. She also loved to travel to other churches where she made many lifelong friends. Mom loved to listen to the Gaithers and loved the fact that many said she looked like Vestal Goodman, her favorite singer. Mom was even privileged to meet her at one of the Gaither Concerts. Mom loved gardening, cooking big Sunday lunches for her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was full of life and will be remembered by her children's friends as the Mom who drove the Orange Truck all around Talladega County. We will never forget Gloria's Bridge and the haunted Cemetery in Rockford. Mom's neighbors will remember her for her generosity and for the delicious meals and banana bread she sent them during the holidays. The family would like to thank Coosa Valley Medical Center for the wonderful care Mom received during her fifteen month stay. A special thank you to the staff on TCU for making "Aunt" Bobbie feel special everyday. Dr. Emily Rehberg and the staff at New Beacon Hospice were such a blessing to Our Mom and family at the end of Mom's Journey. In Lieu of flowers Donations to the Coosa Valley Medical Center Auxiliary or The Church of Christ Nigeria. She is preceded in death by husband of 60 years Victor Blankenship and her parents Willis Parker and Mary Dee Wilson Parker and siblings, O.C. To my cousin who I was hoping to see one day and just talk about the family. Maybe in my next life we will be able to meet.
