Barney Brasher 93, passed away peacefully August 9, 2013 in Houston. Born July 30, 1920 in Quitman, Texas, he was a WWII veteran, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Elva Viola Brasher.
Barney is survived by his children, Beverly Bailey and husband, Freddie, Diane Dickens and husband, Kenneth, and Barney Brasher and wife, Stella; grandchildren, Freddie H. Bailey and wife, Sylvia, Kristina Dorris and husband, Steve, Ken Dickens, Jr. and wife, Debbie, Bryan Bailey, Barney Brasher and wife, Andrea, Jennifer Bittner and husband, L.J.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to treasured friends, Sandy and Duane Chandler, and care-giver, Veronica Romero, and her daughter, Andrea, for their love and support.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, August 12, 2013, with the funeral service to take place at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 13, 2013, all to be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Antoine Drive in Houston. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
