William was the son of James Towers and Hannah (Lee) Towers.

He married Sarah Josephine "Josie" Ewing on April 11, 1877 in Rose Hill, Mahaska, Iowa. Their children were; Samuel Ernest, Frank Erwin, Hannah Jane (Jennie), and Helena Frances (Lena).

William's second marriage was to Mary Rhoda Jackson. They married on Nov. 26, 1885 in Rose Hill, Iowa. To this union was born one child, Lois E. Towers.

WILLIAM TOWERS

William Towers, 78 years old, for many years a former resident of New Britain, died at the Baltimore General hospital Thursday, September 24, after a long illness. He served as street commissioner here in the late nineties. Early in this century he left here to make his home in Ridgefield, Conn. In 1905 he left Ridgefield to make his home in Chase, Maryland. He engaged in brick making and farming.

Mr. Towers was born in New York state and came to New Britain early in life. He was engaged in the brick business with his father, the late James Towers, and his brother, the late Joseph Towers for some years later.

Mr. Towers leaves his wife, Rosalie Towers and four children, Samuel E. Towers of Harrison, Arkansas; Frank E. Towers, Mrs. H. Nellie Bassett of Ridgefield, Conn., and Mrs. Helen F. Houck of New Britain, Conn.; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Lawrence of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mrs. Sarah Schweitzer of Elkhart, Indiana; Mrs. Libby Dicks of Gary, Indiana and Mrs. Lena Sautter of New Britain Conn.; and one brother, James Towers of New Britain, Conn.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the W. C. White Company funeral parlors in Laurel, Maryland. The Episcopal services were read by the Rev. Dr. Neighbour of Laurel.

The burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Laurel, Maryland. - New Britain Record
