Mr.Bailey was born in the Monthalia community to his father, Ernest M. Bailey and his mother Maude Mahan Bailey.
Mr. Cecil Clarence Bailey served in the West Indies and in the European Theatre in WWII rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force as an Aerial Photographer and Aerial Gunner after completion of a B-26 specialist course in Baltimore, Maryland. He was assigned to the 155th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron and flew 18 missions over enemy territory during WWII. His plane was hit by flak on three of those missions, once being shot down and crash landing in Belgium. SSG bailey was awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the European, African and Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with six Bronze Stars representing his service in the Northern France, Air Offensive Europe,Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, and Normandy campaigns, the Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Air Crew Wings, and the Army Rifle Marksman Badge. He separated from active duty and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1945.
He was married to Deanie Estelle Bell on June 11, 1943 in North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Deanie of Gonzales,Texas; his brother, Winston Bailey of Sequin, Texas; and his sisters, Mable Richter of Gonzales and Glenna F. Kohli of Lima Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a carpenter and a member of the Baptist Church and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4817 in Gonzales.
