Marilyn Rose Eckel, 73, of Bowling Green passed away in her home, Sunday November 20, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. Marilyn was born December 8, 1937, in Bowling Green to the late Anthony and Thelma (Rose) Eckel. Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Ashvin Shah, brother: Dr. Norman Eckel of Bowling Green; sister in-law: Mary Jane "Janie" Eckel of Delaware; nephews: Norman Jr., William, Dennis, Douglas and Greg; nieces: Kelly and Susan; special niece Kaanan and a host of special cousins and friends, including her close Toledo Edison group. She was preceded in death by her brother Douglas. Marilyn graduated from Webster High School in 1955 and attended the University of Toledo. Following her training Marilyn was employed by Toledo Edison Company in 1958 as an Administrative Assistant. While at Toledo Edison, Marilyn actively coordinated Edison Club functions including style shows, bowling and tennis banquets. Upon retirement in 1987, she and Ashvin built their self-designed home in Bowling Green to be near her mother and brother. Her memberships included Pemberville Garden Club, Towne Club of Toledo and Wood County Humane Society. Her hobbies included crafts, gardening and decorating; she participated in folk dancing and attended art classes at the Toledo Museum of Art. She loved animals, especially her surviving cats, Mama Cece, Snooter and Tommy. Her family was the most important part of her life and reflected in the elaborate meals she prepared. She will be greatly missed. Visitation for Marilyn will be Friday, November 25, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00 -8:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.; funeral service Saturday, November 26, 2011, 11:00 a.m., with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio Tele: 419/352-2171. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green. Memorial contributions may be gifted in Marilyn's honor to Wood County Humane Society, 801 Van Camp, Bowling Green, Ohio; the Sisters of St. Francis, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, Ohio 43560 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P O Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or to the donor's choice.
