ABINGDON, Va. Mr. Leslie Allen Childress, 55, of the Brumley Gap community, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, a son of the late Charles Dennis Childress and Retha Kennedy Childress. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Nelson Childress; and two sisters, Maxine June Hill and Wilma Fields. Survivors include one son, Danny Allen Childress of Abingdon; three sisters, Lois Wise and husband, Mike, of Abingdon, Patsy Fields of Bristol, Va., and Wanda Frederick and husband, Raymond, of Abingdon; one special brother, Wayne Childress of Abingdon; former wife, Diane Smith and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Counts Cemetery in Brumley Gap. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
